PORIJEKLO:
Samojedi potiču iz zapadnog Sibira u Rusiji. Pasmina je dobila ime po nomadskom narodu Samojeda, koji su putovali sa psima u potrazi za hranom. Oči su crne ili braon, bademastog oblika. Mogu biti i plave, ali je to neprihvatljivo na izložbama. Izraz lica samojeda je kao da se smeje i po tome je karakterističan. Rep je izvijen, raskošan i visoko nošen. Najčešće su bijele boje, mada ih ima i u krem nijansi.
TEMPERAMENT:
Samojedi su viševijekovni saputnici ljudi, pa i ne čudi što su ovi psi vezani za vlasnika i generalno imaju dobru narav. Nježni su i razigrani, pa se odlično slažu sa djecom. Dobro prihvataju druge pse i ostale životinje. Mana im može biti to što odmah prihvataju strance, pa nisu najbolji izbor za psa čuvara. Mogu biti tvrdoglavi i zato im je neophodna strpljiva dresura, s mnogo ljubavi, jer loše podnose oštre metode treninga. Svakodnevno im je neophodna fizička i mentalna aktivnost. Ako su zapostavljeni počeće da se dosađuju i priređuju razne nestašluke. Lajavi su kada žele da privuku pažnju vlasnika. Vole društvo i uživaju u igri čak i kad ostare.
NJEGA I ZDRAVLJE:
Ova pasmina je vrlo aktivna, pa im je potrebna intenzivna fizička aktivnost. Dobro podnose niske temperature, ali ljeti treba izbegavati šetnje po jakom suncu. Održavanje dlake je zahtjevno, pa je četkanje neohodno 3-4 puta nedeljno. Dosta se linjaju i u tom period četkanje je svakodnevno. Dobro podnose život u stanu, uz redovne šetnje.
